Is it possible to polish aluminum close to mirror finish with a sandblaster?

i don't think so.

elbow grease will be best, and some flitz.

But it will get rid of scratches correct?  I built a couple lamp reflectors out of raw sheet aluminum so there is a lot of work to do.

Yeah, you can smooth out surface this way to start over on polish. Sand blast with 120grt, then come back and glass bead blast over that to save some time on the baldor wheel.

Alright, that was a treat.  I used some 800 and 1000 grit wet dry paper and then hit it with the bench buffer.  It's pretty dang good as it is but I know it can be better.  Would Flitz at this point be a good idea?  Where would I find flitz?

that is a good question.

i tried every wally world, home store, auto parts place, etc. within a 20 mile radius.  ended up finding the stuff in a hole-in-the-wall hardware store 5 minutes away.

a lot of chain places don't carry it because there are less expensive options out there.  but in my opinion, flitz is the best.

Simichrome works well on aluminum also. I see in it in a lot of auto parts stores.

Best thing Ive found out there is Morhters Aluminium polish.  Its a hydrofloric acid paste which really brings out a good shine.
I use it on aluminium diamond plate and it works very very well.  Extremely time consuming but it works.
