I planted two red maple trees last weekend. One of them is moving around in the root ball.
What do I need to do ? Any help would be appreciated.

It's windy there too huh?

Could you do some support cables or ropes?

Yep, pretty windy today. I was thinking about staking but the tree is loose in the root ball
and didn't know if i could do something to firm it up so it can't move.
Anybody think I could wash soil down into the root ball by the trunk? Bad idea? I don't really
know much about trees.

I wouldn't expose the root ball, stake it, the top of the tree is causing the ball to move, immobilize it and you immobilize the ball.

Thanks. I'm gonna go dig some stuff out to stake it.
