I picked up a 15kw Guardian that won't run.
It will start if you put fuel down then dies. The motor turns over fast/normally The vacum fuel pump moves gas The gas is new The inside of the carb is spotless, I disassembled/cleaned/blew out everything to be safe The plugs are new, gapped correctly and getting fire The choke is working normally I attempted to operate the throttle by hand also, the butterflys are operating as they should No fuel is flowing to the carb bowl. I am getting fuel to the inlet but none out of bowl drain with the screw all the way out. I can, however, get air through the same path. Any ideas out there? ETA: Compression and valve train are fine. I cannot find specs for the float. It moves freely as does the attached fuel flow mechanism. |

some of the larger motors have a small fuel pump between the tank and carb. i would check to see if this one has one and if it is working properly. next i would check to make sure the float is working. you might want to take the carb to a shop and have them rebuild it. i know its clean but something is wrong here. when they rebuild it they will also set the float to the proper level. edt: just saw that you checked the fuel pump |
| I know you said that you took the screw out of the bottom of the bowl. Some engines have a solenoid that screws into the bottom of the bowl as a fuel shutoff. When the solenoid is energized, the fuel flows. You don't see anything that might serve that purpose, do you? You might also check the oil level. If it were borderline, it might fire and run long enough to deengerize the oil level sensor, shutting the engine down. |

No fuel to the bowl?
Check for a fuel shut-off valve or a stuck float. The gas should be pouring all over the place if you dropped the bowl and had the fuel on. Also check out this manual, hope it helps. Go to page 33 http://www.guardiangenerators.com/PublicPDFs/0F7713.pdf |
