Anyone have experience paint sprayer setups? I'm looking for one for doing alot of home painting work (multiple rooms). I don't think I need an industrial strength yet I don't want a POS. I thought about rentals but this will be over time. So I'm thinking a purchase may be better in the long run.
Any recommendations? Tips? Things to stay away from?

I just purchased one of these to spray my 'popcorn' ceilings at home. It worked beautifully. For $80 it was a bargain. It works so well I have some outdoor painting on shutters and t1-11 siding that I am almost looking forward to painting...and I hate to paint. Just dump the paint in and shoot. clean up is a little tedious but no biggy

It  might be cheaper to go rent a high pressure sprayer than to buy one.  Watch for the overspray, it has a mind of it's own.  And yes, I will admit I hate painting.

Very cool! Just what I'm looking for. Painting doesn't bother me too much with the exception of ceilings. I absolutely loathe rolling ceilings. Thanks for the link.

I used one of those to paint an entire house.  Worked ok.  Once I had about 10 gallons through it, the spray pattern began to suck.  Still worked and I finished the house but it wasn't as good as I'd like.  I'd spend a little more or look into renting one.  You can rent a professional model for about $50-75 for a day or two and get a better unit.

I don't regret getting the paint crew but don't expect a long life.

Also, COVER EVERYTHING!!

I have the Spraytec Apex 1920 that Lowes sales.  I have used it to paint the inside and outside of my rent houses and a friends house.  I would not think about using a paint sprayer inside a house that was not empty.  If you are just going to be painting one room at a time you will be spending more time preping and cleaning than you will painting.

I had the Wagner Paint Crew and it worked a lot better / longer than I thought it would.  I recently went with the below sprayer.  I have only used it once with around 5 gals through it, but it worked like a champ.  I have a lot of jobs for it to do, so it will pay for itself quickly.

As a possible cheaper alternative the Wagoner power rollers work well and can save you quite a bit of time.

I painted for years with power sprayers. Just be careful not to put too much paint on the walls. "BACK ROLL"......  Just like rolling the wall with a paint roller. Spray one wall at a time. Then back roll. I don't care what any body says. It looks like shit if you don't. It adds texture as well.

From someone in the business, unless the house is empty and you are painting everything at once, forget a sprayer.
Sprayers are for nice big open rooms with no floor coverings or wall coverings that you care about.

You will spend more time prepping in order to spray, than just rolling everything.  Not to mention cleanup.  You will spend 30 minutes
after you spray to clean the sprayer properly if you want it to work the next time you go to use it.  And, depending on sprayer model, and hose
you will waste a lot of paint.

I would advise you to skip on the sprayer, and roll everything.
