My power was shut off today. My power is back on now but my cistern is not working correctly. Only a vary small amount of water is coming out of the sink. The psi gauge on the compressor reads under 10. I tried resetting the breaker but can not get the cistern to work. I did take a shower when the power was out. The water pressure coming out of the shower head was vary low. I'm thinking there is something I need to do to reset my compressor. Has anyone ever had this problem before? How much psi should the system be set at?

Without knowing what sort of setup you have it may be hard to diagnose. Can you find your system manufacturer online and see it they have a downloadable manual or trouble shooting chart.
Do you have a submersible well? How is the cistern filled? Is it filled automaticly? Suggestions depending on the system. Does your system have a pressure tank with an internal bladder to maintain pressure? You may need to add some compressed air to the tank to maintain pressure. There may be a Schrader valve on the tank or pipes near the tank. It would look similar to a metal air valve stem on a car tire. I think it may take about 28 to 32 psi. If your cistern is low on water the foot valve may not be holding water in the pipe. This would cause a pump that is in the house to lose prime and not want to pump water properly. Good luck. |
Ok there is a lever that reads stop, start, auto. I guess the lever lets water into the tank. As the lever is pulled the psi on the gauge increases. I held the lever until the gauge read 35 then I guess the auto took over and filled it to 40 psi. It seems to be working. Thanks for the advise. If this doesn't work I will attempt to find a manual online.
