| I'm in the process of replacing baseboard in 4 carpeted bedrooms. In the first room I pulled the carpet up from the tack strip first to slip the baseboard in, naturally I now have slack in the carpet. In the second room I set the baseboard with disturbing the carpet, and used a 1X3 to knock it down. I'm not as confident that I got the baseboard positioned correctly with the 2nd method though. Does anyone have any better methods they can share? |
| The base doesn't have to be snug against the floor with carpet. When I install base in a room before the carpet is in, I usually leave 3/8" gap between the bottom of the base and the floor. That makes it a little easier for the carpet guys to install carpet, they don't beat up the finish as bad and the carpet install looks alot better in my opinion. |
