Has anyone ever used anything like this
I am about to paint my aluminum fishing boat as well as on old truck I bought. Neither one has to look professionally done, I was originally going to use regular spray paint. But since I have a couple of projects coming up, I thought I may go ahead and make an investment in something like this. I do not have an air compressor or I would go that route. Would I be better off buying a compressor? What size would be good for a carport mechanic? Thanks

Very good unit. They work great. You can buy it here Gleem Piant for a whole lot less. They have great customer service. Write them and tell them what you are painting and they will recomend a model and or tips on how to do it.  I just ordered this one.

HVLP would work on those items.  Not the best.  Not the fastest.  But it would work.  You might want to experiment a little with your paint on the bottom of the boat.  To see how it dries and if it will be hard enough and bonded enough for you.

Depending on the type of paint you are using there are different additives that you might want to use.  If you use an auto type paint on either item you may want to buy a little hardener (polyn - A) I think.  Be very careful not to breathe the fumes.  Especially if there is hardener involved.

Lacquer thinner or ineral spirits can be used to thin the paint.  Lacquer thinner speeds the paint's drying time and mineral spirits will slow it down.

The thing I like about an HVLP pump is you will get less bounce back and overspray.
