well, i finished my central vac install today, patched the holes, primed and painted them.
the problem is that the primer i used (bear) was supposed to have a sand appearance like the stuff that is blown onto drywall in new homes. the stuff turned out somewhat acceptable however it is not the same texture as the original sand look.
what do you guys use to get that light textured sandy look on drywall patch jobs?

edit:
ok two part question, i have annother hole in my drywall because the exhaust vent for my furnace is leaking water through a junction piece where the pipe bends 90 degrees.
i tried the PVC cement, but it still leaks. could i use cauck to seal this up? It is behind drywall so i want to get it fixed once and for all so as to not have to re-drywall the spot again and again.
what would you do?

Another coat of the primer and/or a textured applicator.  I've added sand to paint for floors, but not walls.

If you seal that, you are just going to contain the moisture buildup.  Eventually it will rust and fail leaving you or the next owner with a mess.  Without seeing it, it 'sounds' like the architechture of your vent may need to be addressed to prevent the moisture buildup in the first place.

vac install was not too hard, especialy since it was my first major project in my home.
i highly recomend a central vac as it has more power than push vac's and it keeps the dirt out of the home. i installed the unit in the garage.
i will try to post pix soon, i did not take any action shots of the job in progress but i will get a pic of the wall to show what my OP was asking.
thanks
