Hi All,
Side by side fridge freezer has ice accumulating on the interior floor. The ice is melting at the door seal and dripping onto the kitchen floor. Too much crap in the freezer? I tend to over pack it. |

Self defrosting?
There is probably a drain tube at the floor of the freezer that allows water to drip in a pan which is dried by a fan or heater. If you have the tube it's probably obstructed.. ETA- here you go ![]() Home Refrigerator. Cleaning the Freezer drain Line. |

ETA- here you go I would go with this ^^. Our french door fridge with the freezer drawer started doing that out of the blue one day. We messed with it for a while, chipping ice out of the bottom, replacing the drain at the back, etc... Finally one day we had an issue in our main electrical panel that caused the power to the house to be out for a little over 24 hr. That was enough for the freezer to completely defrost and the issue went away. My best guess is that somewhere in the drain system it was frozen and every time the defrost cycle ran the water would pool in the bottom. Once it pooled up enough it would melt by the seal and drip out. |
