My Husqvarna 123L trimmer wouldn't start. My son and I got a carb kit, swapped parts, and fired it up. It ran fine for the test, but needed an air filter. I set it down until the filter came in.
Yesterday I tried to fire it up with the new filter and it was hydraulically locked. I couldn't hardly pull the start cable. I took the plug out and liquid spewed out the hole every time I pulled the cable. I thought maybe one of the kids was playing with the primer bulb and just put the whole tank into the cylinder. So I have taken the spark arrestor off, plug out, dried the whole thing out, and now it won't start AT ALL. I checked that the plug is still getting spark, not sure where to go from here. Anyone had a similar issue or have an idea on how to get this to turn over? |

What kind of liquid came out of the spark plug hole? If it was gas, then hold the engine in different positions while pulling the starter cord. There may still be a lot of gas in the crank case. Remember to ground the spark plug wire so a spark won't ignite any spilled gas.
Change the spark plug also. Once you are sure the engine is "dry", install new spark plug and spritz a tiny bit of starting fluid into the carb and see if it will pop off. If it does, fill tank with fuel and have at it. |

Carburetor cleaner works great in small engines as starting fluid without the danger of blowing the thing up. |

I had the spark arrestor and spark plug off and dried it all with air. I found this video on the net and tried it:

I just ordered the assembly to replace the wire. It's $50, so this is the last attempt before I give up and buy a new one. Checked out the Stihl FS110 and FS94R today. Also thinking about the multitool KM110R with the FS-KM trimmer head and HT-KM pole pruner... |

1 search the Internet for the nearest husqy stocking dealer. 2Drive past it to the nearest Honda dealer 3Find the dumpster-usually around back 4chuck that fucker in there 5Buy a Honda 4stroke Seriously I think husquavarna is good stuff but if a carb kit fuel filter and new plug don't solve the problem it's not worth the trouble shooting time or parts money might as well buy a new one. I've been using the other orange company since the first one (fs55 iirc) my dad bought way back when I was about 11. The epa has this shit so regulated now that the carbs have been going bad once about once a year. Your weed wack lean out and die on the top end? Well fuck you for wanting to give it a bit more fuel. Epa says no more adjusting YMMV, but Carb rebuild kit and they run great. For about another year. When it's time for a new one Ima get a Honda four stroke myself and see what they've managed to engineer In a small engine |

Google for instructions on setting up idle and start from scratch with that. I had a Chainsaw that wouldn't start for shit til I did that and learned how to tune the idle. Started fine after that. Around here the Stihl shops have the best mechanics for fixing any and all weed whackers. It's required to get a dealership. |
