Yep. Did all the replacements here at home.
My house was built in 1920 and had single pane windows when I bought it. Changed virtually all of them myself. Now just three small basement windows remaining. It was actually quite easier than I thought it was going to be. Measured and took to Home Depot. Specify that you are replacing old windows. The frames are different than the ones used in new constructions. Just make sure to measure at least three times.
