| I'm renovating a bathroom and decided to replace the existing window with glass block. I've framed up the opening to the appropriate size and coated the sill with asphalt emulsion, and I have my spacers & expansion strips so I'm pretty much ready to go, but my question is about reinforcing rods. Do I need them for a window of this size? I'm using 20 8" blocks for a size of 32" x 40" (including the mortar joints). |

If I remember right, the manufacturers recommend them at every 3 or 4th course. You'll need to put in the tabs to tie into the framing too. Yeah, I forgot about those. I guess it won't hurt to add them even if they're not needed. Better overbuilt than underbuilt. |
