My summer projects include roofing and siding. At the moment I've settled on either Hardie Plank or LP SmartBoard. Hardie has a 30 year warranty, LP is 50. LP will be easier to work with than the Hardie. LP costs a little more at $0.90 per board foot vs. $0.73 for the Hardie (based on Home Depot's prices). Both come unprimed and will need painting.

Thoughts/opinions on either or both of these products?

No shit? LP around here is half the price of Hardie. Install is about the same skill level wise, both products stay around as long as you keep a quality coating on them.

I put hardie board on my house. No big deal to work with but in the winter time with extreme temp changes it does make alot of noise. I have talked to others and am being told this is normal.
