Howdy guys,
This afternoon I went flip on the 8' shop lights and the one set flickered and made a clicking noise until it warmed up. After approx 10-15 seconds, it stopped flickering and the noise went away. Is this a sign of something about to take a crap on me or what? |

Ballast So its going Tango Uniform? Will it just shut off when it dies or does it pose a fire hazard? We run "smoke from a light" calls pretty regularly at the malls. It'll smoke a little bit and smell terrible, but not a real fire hazard. Copy. I didn't think so but I figured I would ask. I don't use the light much but next time I am out at lowes, Ill get a new ballast. |

Go to a local electric store and get a real ballast, take a pic of what you have for comparison. They will most likely be cheaper and they sure as shit will last longer. |

BTW, I turned the light on last night and it wasn't making a noise but it failed to fully light up. |

If you have T12's instead of T8s (the fat bulbs instead of the skinny ones) This might be a good time to replace them. T8s are way better IMO.
Also I have one of those dual 4' hanging work lights over my bench. It crapped out recently and I was going to replace the ballast. I went to Lowes and the ballast cost about a buck more than just buying a whole new light. Granted for the wired in lights replacing the ballast would be easier but for the hanging one it was easier to just replace the whole thing. |

Before you buy a new ballast check on the price of a new fixture The last time I needed one I was able to get a new fixture cheaper than just buying the ballast that why you go ta a electrical store and not the big box That was at the electrical supply store |
