So I screwed something up.
my home was built in 2006 and the DSC pc1555 security system was installed by the builder. it was never powered up. I got the battery and adapter to power it all up last week. I got the installers manual and tried to fire it up, but all I did was lock out the keypads. I plugged it in, and the first step was to program the key pads. I did the *8 plus installer code. 000 then 0 then 01 for the first pad. did the ## to get out of program mode. so I went to the second pad. did the same thing but 18 instead of the 01. then did the ## then I tried to go back to the other pad to do the *8 installer code and 902. but it didn't beep. it only lit up. tried it on the other pad, and it too will only lite up when I push buttons. no beeps. tried a factory reset on the controler, but the zone 1 never lights up. it says on system. these are the cheesy push button only key pads I think they called them kzr's. I asked about this before to see if anything was missing, so here is the pics from the first time around.

I recently ripped out my old ADT system and replaced it with an Ademco, don't known anything about DSC though. Try posting your question at diyalarmforum, lots of good information there and you will get an answer fairly quickly.
