So my Badger 5 took a shit and started leaking water out of the red reset button. Any decent lower price units to replace it? Or should I just get another Badger 5 and replace it. This unit is only 4 yrs old Edit: I just went and got another Badger 5 and threw it in. It was a lot easier that way. Thanks everyone. |

Just did the same at my house:

| My Badger 5 lasted 15 years. I put in another one. Since I didnt need to replace the flange and lockring it took 5 minutes. Sure the nice ones have a ton of power and can digest nails, but you haven't been feeding nails to your Badger and the power always was enough, right?. YMMV. |

My house was built in '92, so if it was original, then it lasted 20 years. |

Replaced with Badger 15 which has a stainless grinding chamber. Even better was using the HD $50 off with $100 purchase coupon posted on arf a week or so. .
Only things I could suggest would be paying attention as to drain fit from disposer to rest of under-sink stuff...old one allowed a bit of twist on the drainpipe, new one uses 2-bolt flange which doesn't allow for twist. MAKE SURE you knock out the dishwasher plug if you've got a dishwasher. -hanko |
