I just installed a new hot water tank and was wondering what it would have cost if I had it installed by a plumber / contractor? I installed a "GE" Water tank on a metal stand with earth quake strap and expansion tank to make it per code. Installed a 9 year tank. I like those Shark tooth fittings, my pressure relief valve was off set from the drain line by about 1 & 3/4" made the installation much easier than using an elbow. Total cost was $707.

Plumbers charge by the hour around here they charge around $100 bucks an hour so just figure out how long it took you to install and you can come up with the figure.

If it was a simple standard installation, a good rule of thumb would be about double the cost of your material and equipment minimum.

Lowe's told me it would be $1200-1300 with installation, but that includes everything including pulling a permit.
