| The ice maker in our freezer stopped working, and when I touch the evaporator coil (condenser?), that thing is HOT! Is it supposed to get that hot? I expected it to be a bit warm, but not like that. I've turned off the ice maker, and the coil has cooled down. Think the line may be frozen? It doesn't look like there is any ice or water in the tray. |

Tell us Brand Style ie top mount, SxS..... Pix if you can Why? You're jumping around naming things without knowing what they are and guessing. Where was it hot? The ice maker itself? The panel behind the IM? The coils on the back or bottom Quoted: The ice maker in our freezer stopped working, and when I touch the evaporator coil (condenser?), that thing is HOT! See if you can feel ice in the line from the inside of the freezer. I had a similar problem due to my freezer being set too cold. It ended up freezing the 'on deck' water in the line. To fix it I pulled out the stuff in the freezer and used a hair dryer on hot to quick thaw it until the ice slug dropped out. Good luck. |

It's a GE side-by-side, model no. TXF25JPCGWW. I'm trying to find a parts diagram online that might show how to take the ice maker out, or pop the cover off. It's kind of hard to figure out where the fill line is, there's not much room in there, and I don't see anything obvious that is keeping the cover on. Figure I'd rather find a diagram than just start prying on something
ETA: The condenser coil is in a U-shape, and that is what is hot. And when I say hot, it's hot enough that I can't leave my finger on it more than a second. |

Knowing GE you'll most likely need to replace the IM. |
