So my girlfriend is a farm girl and not living on her farm for 2 years has really gotten to her and she wants chickens....for our apartment. I said I'd build the coop if she got all the materials. Problem is she has no plans for said coop so I was wondering if arfcomm could give me some advice on types of materials and what kind of plans I'll need to do this. She wants 4 chickens and the following "demands":

- door so chickens can be set free
- easy access to collect eggs
- 4 nesting boxes
- stirdy chicken wire
- a lamp inside
- good ventilation
- Nesting boxes preferably above ground so stay dry
- Easy cleaning would be nice, for example, the flooring in the house would be nice if it was on some sort of tracks so it could slide out and the newspaper/shavings be dumped.

She likes the A frame style...she was thinking something like this:

Also we live in Colorado where 4-5 months of the year are cold.

i have chickens on our farm.. i highly recomend you get a different animal. they eat and drink a ton..( cost alot ).. and they crap everywhere...trust me when I say you cant just lay down some newspaper..lol.  It gets alittle too bad too fast for that...  Farm animals on a farm... house cat or small dog in appt..          my opinion..   good luck
