Not as stylistic as Leone's westerns, much more of a "serious" movie. But, the original full length version is an absolute masterpiece.

DeNiro, Pesci, Woods, etc... Definitely worth watching. This movie will always be on my top shelf with the other classic mob and gangster flicks.

An unusual film. Been a while since I saw it, but I remember the film "looked good." Kinda like the flashback scenes in Godfather II

Yes  - I know, LOL, and its dynamic range was enhanced to REALLY put it in your face. Wasn't the woman and some else were seen shot and the reason for the phone ringing and ringing.

Loved the movie, own it.

Loved the movie, own it.


Saw both versions on HBO way back in the '80's. The butchered "sequential" version REALLY sucked major camel balls. The original "flashback" version is THE classic gangster movie, IMHO.

And the music is GREAT!

It's good, but you hear that flute melody so many times that you will want to stab your ears with a pencil before it's done.

I've seen it several times but can't watch it anymore because the flute gets on my nerves.

This.  How long did they have to show that kid play with that stupid cupcake?  I didn't see Pesci until 3 hours into the movie.

Maybe I was just in a bad mood, but I seriously thought it was one of the most mind numbingly boring mob movies.

Turned it off eventually, I had no care for the characters or the plot.

They play the melody with a few instruments, but the flute is main one. One of the characters is always playing this pan-flute and he cranks the tune out repeatedly.
