So, i have my PC hooked up to both a monitor (~20 inches) and my tv (~65 inches) and have it set up to dual screen - extended. I have a tv tuner in my tower, so i use that as a tivo/dvr free. for the last few weeks, this worked great. now when using Window's Media Center the picture becomes laggy/choppy. i also had this problem when i was running two similar sized monitors back in college last year.
i have the pixil ratio/refresh rate to what the tv requires (otherwise it would say "un-compatible video signal". the whole computer will also occasionally get laggy because of this. i have turned off my anti-virus, spy-ware etc programs while watching just to see if it makes a difference but it doesn't. restarting the computer helps for a little bit, but then it gets choppy again. anyone got any ideas? |

Is it set up such that the video card is driving both screens simultaneously? If so, select one screen only (either the TV or monitor, whichever has greater resolution) and run in that configuration. If it's still laggy, I'd say it's your video card. Then switch to the lower resolution display. Is that laggy, too?
Is it laggy during playback from the HDD or also from DVD's? |

Not to hijack but I tried hooking my MacBook up to my flatscreen using mini-DVI/HDMI cable and got a great view of my desktop but that was it. Tried running a movie on the MacBook using Quicktime and it wouldn't show up on the TV just the MacBook.
Figured something wasn't set right and I didn't have time to mess with it so I gave up... |
