I bought this movie used from Blockbuster because the previews I'd seen for it were amazing.
And I enjoyed the movie enough. The story was very solid, the design of the movie was awesome, and the voice acting was superb... Overall I'd give it a 6.0/10 Why so low if I enjoyed it as much as I did? It's a strange thing... Through some intangible thing that I can't put my finger on, the overall enjoyability of the movie's defining characteristics are not the sum of it's parts. |

I like you picked it up at Blockbuster, because I hadn't seen it. Some scenes and characters seemed real while others had a odd animated feel. It wasn't real enough to be real, yet it was to real to be animated. I did make it through the whole thing, but it took watching over half the movie for me to make up my mind to keep watching.
I'd give it a 4 or 5. |
| While the animation was good I found the artwork of Wealhtheow to be very irritating to the point that it distracted me. Though it may or may not follow the storyline(never read it) I didn't really find any reason to like Beowulf's character which diminished my enthusiasm for the movie. As I said the animation was pretty good but after seeing Beowulf and the new Resident Evil movie I am not sure if I am a fan of the technique. |

That was the one that was out about the same time as "300", right? I remember the "THIS IS SPARTA!!!" line from "300" and then the "I AM BEOWULF" trailer ad on TV. It seemed a pretty pale imitation to me at the time.
Meh, I'll catch it on SciFi some night when it comes out.... YMMV |

as with most movies they butchered the story, i give it a 2 out of 10 This. The first time I saw it I thought it was so-so. After doing a thorough examination of the story in my British Literature class I hated the movie. There were 2 other movies I think, at least one of which was slightly more accurate if I remember correctly... |
