Now, don't start ranting on me. The local RedBox rental was pretty pathetic so I went ahead and rented it.

As a movie, it sucked wind.

However, considering that it was produced by guys with NO formal backing, and little or no formal theatrical training, with a budget of about 5 thousand pounds UK, and FILMED IN SCOTLAND, it was quite good. Well, the story still sucked but the production was pretty good.

Essentially, it is a SF story filmed by 10 guys in 10 days of filming (plus 18 MONTHS of post-production). The 'core team' (director, camera operator, etc) of 3 guys was a group of  friends who had made their own super 8 and VHF productions.. which were much, much worse.

Considering what they had to work with, the movie turned out surprisingly well. Don't watch it to see a good movie; watch it and then look at the 'extra stuff,' especially the "how it was made" portion, to get an education about movie making. It was an eye-opener for me!

It was filmed here... not seen it on the shelves in Blockbuster, but that's nothing new for them...
