ETA:  I was repacking a bunch of 8mm ammo for my SHTF stash when I got to see it all the way through for the first time.  It was a zen moment for me.

One of the best movies ever made. John Milius (director) used to be on the NRA board of directors. You WILL buy the DVD because you will want to watch it about 100 times! You may want to curl up with your favorite rifle while you watch it.

What to do??

Simple - Get the DVD!!  I picked up Two for $11 at WalMart last week in one of the Big Bins!

Now my wife can enjoy an alternative selection to Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan, Apocolypes Now, Blackhawk Down and Band of Brothers with the addition of Red Dawn.

Great SHTF movie for the 80s...  

It does bring to perspective when foreigners invade your country and you have to defend yourself to whatever means are necessary.

While watching Red Dawn tonight I got some leather conditioner out, treated the sling for my SKS, and put the sling on the rifle.  This movie always seems to inspire me to do something productive with my collection.

That's what I was thinking last night when I watched it with a girl who has no grasp of the Cold War(22 years old). It just isn't as powerful an image to them.
