Did anybody else catch the preview for Ghost Rider during the 24 season premiere?

I'm sure it's online somewhere, but I had not seen it before then and got very excited when I did.  I remember reading/enjoying that comic as a child and was excited when I heard that it was being made into a movie.  From the brief preview I saw, it looks like they captured the look quite well and I was impressed with the casting.

I don't see many movies in the theater anymore, but will be on my must-see list.

Anybody else care about this?

I`m looking forward to this movie, but I don`t think Nick Cage was the best choice for the part. He was the one who patitioned for it the most though, cuz he`s a big Ghost Rider fan, so that`s why he got it. Gotta love a flaming chopper running up the sides of buildings!

It's going to totally suck, like all comic-to-film movies....

But at least it's 2007 and the graphic will be neat!

There's an Iron Man movie coming out too and it looks like they changed his back story all around.

I read #1.  I still remember what happened.  That shit I saw in the trailer wasn't even close.

I see a lot of comments like this here, and I just don't get it.

I was a huge comic reader/collector from the late '60s through the early '90s -- grew up on the things.  Yeah, I know all the back-stories and could choose to sit there and pick apart each movie for every little deviation, but where's the fun in that?  I watch movies to be entertained, and I don't think I've seen a comic-based movie yet that hasn't entertained me in some fashion.  Heck, as a fan I am just excited to see characters and stories brought into the larger public that many would never have otherwise seen or known.  (More people will now know about Ghost Rider than have ever even heard of, much less seen, the comic -- IMO that is a good thing.)

The "comic purists" (and I am NOT saying you are one!) sadden me to a degree, much like my best friends who are "Tolkien purists" and couldn't enjoy the LOTR movies for all of their nitpicking (movies, FTR, that I loved and thoroughly enjoyed... and those books literally changed my life in many ways as a child and are dear to me).

So naysay all you want... I'm taking my son to see this one and I plan to enjoy it.

Nick Cage might not be the best choice, but he should put all his effort into the role.  He is definitely a huge fan, he has Ghost Rider's flaming skull tattooed on him!

I wouldn't say that all comic-to-movies suck.  The first 2 X-Men movies were good, Both Spiderman films kicked ass, The Punisher was cool, Sin City rocked, A History of Violence was great, The Fantastic Four; well, it had Jessica Alba in her underwear

I'm really looking forward to Spiderman 3 and 300.  I just think that Ghost Rider is gonna suck.  The character was always kinda weak.  The plot for the film looks thin, and, well, it's about a flaming skeleton on a motorcycle out for revenge... If the character was not owned and advertised by Marvel, the idea alone would be laughable.

Me, too -- I thought the preview looked very promising.  And, as I've said in an earlier thread here, I couldn't be more excited about The Rise of the Silver Surfer if I was getting a cut of the profits!

There's a midnight showing tonight.  And I'm gonna go.

I usually rely on this forum for reviews before I go to the theater, but it's time I return the favor.  I'll report back when I get home.

I must admit I have been looking forward to this one for a while, but the recent previews with the "portly goth chick" talking are really taking the wind out of my sails......

We'll see.

I hope the soundtrack is good.  Rollins Band's "Ghost Rider" should definitely make an appearance, if not in the movie itself.

Good points. Although a lot of the movie adaptions have been bad, the two Spiderman movies were excellent, the last Batman movie and the Daredevil were pretty good.

With all the good marvel comics adaptations ,we need some really good DC comics films.
Superman Returns  was a big disapointment
1 "Truth ,justice ,and that other Stuff" ;WTF ,who were they worried about offending,Supes is an American hero
2 Even if he was being being shot with Kryptonite loaded M4s  Superman will not cower or whimper like a whipped dog.
3 Superman is the ultimate standup straight arrow : he would not sniff around another mans woman.

Batman Begins was pretty good, and I am hoping Wonder Womanwill be to.

I am holding my breath for a Green Arrow movie

And since damn near every Marvel character has been done ,where the hell is captain America.

Haha....no I didn't fall asleep during the movie, but I did fall asleep as soon as I got home.

Anyway, the movie was not exactly what I wanted.  I'll put it this way.  If you liked Tim Burton's Batman better than Chris Nolan's Batman, then you'll probably like Ghost Rider.  It had more cheesy lines and cheap "jump out at you" scares in it.  It's definitely a turn off your brain and enjoy the visuals popcorn type flick.

I don't regret seeing it, but I was a little disappointed.  This is coming from someone who doesn't read comics but is familiar with alot of the characters.  So, I don't really know if it stayed true to the comic or not......

If they do a part two, I would like to see a darker story line with A LOT LESS contrived humor.  Actually, I didn't want any humor at all.

Now that I think about it, the movie reminded me of Last Action Hero (which I liked btw).

ETA:  I think they made this movie to appeal to a broader audience (i.e. younger audience).  I would like to see an R rated version of Ghost Rider, not for language, but for violence and strong acts of vigilantism.

Which is really quite disappointing to me/us.

I guess now I'm going to see The Number 23 and 300.

And I'm pretty sure The Dark Knight is not going to disappoint.

ETA:  I don't know if the Ghost Rider comic is still around, as in new ones are being written, but one would think they would take the age of the ORIGINAL readers into account when they decided to make this movie.....oh well.  What could've been.

I believe the original director was shit-canned for trying to make it dark, like it should be.

They replaced him with this guy to lightened it up.

I knew right then htat I would not be happy with the movie. It's a dark story, and should be a dark movie.

When I was a kid Ghost Rider and Spiderman were my favorite comics, I hate them for fucking up this movie.

I kind of liked the new Superman movie, but you're absolutely right.  He wouldn't have been sniffing around another man's woman.  It's even less likely that he'd be banging a woman without marrying her and have a child out of wedlock as a result.

As for Wonder Woman, a long time ago I saw a picture of a model named Zemanova (I think that's spelled right) and thought that she would be hands down the ultimate Wonder Woman.  I'm sure it won't happen, but I can dream.

The FF trailer was shown during Ghost Rider.  It was basically a scene where the Flame is flying around after stretch and Alba's rooftop wedding, and all of a sudden the Silver Surfer just appears and the Flame follows him through the streets and into the air where they begin to fight, and then the Silver Surfer goes skyward into space thus extinguishing the Flame and he falls back to Earth....cut scene.

The only reedeeming feature in it was Donal Logue.

Nick Cage is a horrible actor and so is Eva Mendes.

One of only two movies in my entire life I walked out on in the middle (I almost walked out of Silent Hill but instead got comfortable and took a little snooze.....).

I went to see GR yesterday with my son and a friend of his.  Not too bad, assuming you understand it's a comic book movie.

Long is some places, and probably a little hard to follow in some places: who were the bad guys and why were they fighting each other again....?

I like N Cage as an actor, so that's not a problem for me.  We'll get it when it comes out on DVD.
