I just paused Red Dragon because a question came up that I absolutely positively must have an answer to.  Lechter has given the Tooth Fairy Grahm's address, and Grahm's family has just been evacuated.  Not Graham is teaching his wife to shoot, and he's teaching her with a revolver that has absolutely zero muzzle flip when a shot is fired.  She fired several shots, and the gun didn't move at all.  I think a recoilless revolver would be a really cool thing to have.  Does anyone know if they make them in .357?

nitpicker atleast they show him teaching her the original film "Manhunter" had no scene in it even though Michael Mann, no stranger to guns directed it.

Well, now we're to the end.  And the moral is, find a woman who won't hesitate to put a bullet in the bad guy's head.

Final rating:  Four out of five.

Ditto

Tom Noonan is the essential Tooth Fairy,  he is 6' 6" in real life and it shows up on screen compared to wimpy Ralph Fiennes

Well, since Manhunter ended with Graham (which William Peterson did a MUCH better job playing than Edward Norton did IMHO) killing Dollarhyde (Which again Noonan did a far better job and was far creepier than Fiennes....don't get me wrong, I like Fiennes, but Noonan was better) that subplot wasn't needed.....

IMHO....Manhunter was far better in most ways....I liked some of the storylines added in Red Dragon, like the part where Lecter stabs Graham.....But I loved the music and style of Manhunter better.....

I also prefer Manhunter, however Hopkins was a much better Lechter than Cox.

Manhunter, what a disappointment.

Red Dragon wasn't perfect but it was a damn sight better.  Hopkins as the diabolical Lecter really makes the movie.

I like manhunter maybe just a bit more than red dragon

neither Finnes or Noonan did the tooth fairy justice
in the book he is fucking huge

i think the only actor that would have done him justice
is Brain Thompson he was the night slasher in Cobra  and the bad guy in Lionheart
In his prime in those 2 movies he was huge and scary
