hey guys - i have (had?) a creative s750 7.1 channel surround system.  well... i get home today from work and see all the clocks flashing... ok no prob - another power outtage... anyways, i turn on my pc - and my surround system wont turn on... i do all the easy stuff, check the fuse, make sure i'm getting voltage from the wall... still no go.  anyways, it looks like my surround system is dead... it lasted 12 years, so i guess it is probably time...

soooo, can anyone recommend a similar computer sound system?  i'm not seeing many 7.1 systems out there - or i'm not looking in the right places.

thanks, and i hope this is the right place for this question.

eta - or is there a replacement sub that i can buy that has all the amplifier outputs for the speakers i currently have?

Check Ebay if you want to find a 12 year old system.

As far as computer sound systems go, it's totally up to you and your budget.  My computer is connected to a Pioneer receiver that powers JBL speakers.

I spent some time searching for you but didn't come up with anything definitive for a 7.1 sound system.  It seems almost everything is 5.1.  I did find one sound card that claimed to be 7.1 but its low cost left me skeptical and I couldn't find a spec sheet.

Today, I went to Newegg.com has a bunch you can look over.

Link to Newegg's 7.1 sound cards

What interface do you need for the card (PCI, PCIe,...)?
