I heard such good things about this that I bought the bluray unseen, and I'm just now watching it.
Holy fuck what a good script and what amazing direction. Intelligent, emotional, and beautifully acted. The director said in an interview, "there's not a lot more interesting than watching somebody think on film." He's right. |

There's one particular scene in it which might be the best directed scene I've ever watched in anything.
That's where the pudgy glasses-wearing nerd from Yale is tasked with firing a huge, handsome, professional ballplayer. It is so perfectly timed, and I identified with so much of it. It is a very strange thing, the first time you're in a situation like that and it plays out that way. I couldn't believe the timing on that scene. If it had been one microsecond longer or shorter, it wouldn't've worked so well. |
| Watched it the other day, and thought it was very well done. Hoffman was a great (and surprising) addition to the film, but I thought the SuperBad kid was poorly cast. Don't get me wrong, he did a very good job, its just I didn't buy him in that role. Hey, at least it wasn't the other kid from Superbad!! |

Hey, at least it wasn't the other kid from Superbad!! while i agree that hoffman played art howe well (because i dispise both of them), i think you're wrong about jonah hill. He is EXACTLY the type of person that would be in that role. |

Quoted: Quoted: Great film, I just wish it had followed the true story line a little better. Nevertheless, it's a great film. A lot of baseball fans agree. Even I remember that season. My wife and I were at a couple of those games. I think it was win 17 in the 20-game win streak and the loss to the Twins in the ALDS. |
