Just got back from seeing "Fright Night" the remake and I have to say it was a fun movie, but not a great movie.
I remember seeing the first "Fright Night" when I was a kid and it was one of those great 80's movies and while I think they did a good job of translating it to the present it just seemed to be missing something. It was fairly decent though and had some cool moments. The theater was pretty empty though and it was a fairly short film. The original I thought had a lot more build up than the remake where the remake sort of jumps right in from the get go. So a bit more action and fast paced than the original for sure, but I think that lack of build up kind of left me half impressed. Overall, probably a good rental unless you're a hardcore theater guy or desperate for a weekend movie to take a date to. |

I’m not sure what’s with the old reruns they’ve been doing lately. Guess it means I’m getting old because I remember the original, when it was in theaters and when they came out on TV. Like True Grit for instance. Some are good. Even some movies made of TV series. I particularly hate it when they do a remake of something that should never be repeated and should not have been done in the first place.
Remake of the Wild Wild West with a black actor in lead role- Great. Trying to do a remake of the Carter years with a black bad actor in the lead role- Not so great. |
| saw it in 3d but only a couple scenes stood out. the credits were kinda cool. i thought it was a decent movie, i love the original as well. while this maybe the 3rd movie, it is a remake of the first. not part 2 . that being said it has a bit of differences than the first. a bigger budget for one. if you like campy horror movies , i would think you would like it. |
