Better than the second, but not as good as the first. Saw it last night- I give it 3.5 out of 5 mehs. This is what I heard from a friend who's opinion I value. See, I'm getting all sorts of mixed reviews, be it Worst or Best of the three, better than two, but not as good as the first, or just completely unwatchable. I guess its one of those, "You have to decide for yourself" things. |

I guess its one of those, "You have to decide for yourself" things. It's giant robots that wrestle and shoot each other on earth. One side is good and the other is bad. There's a hot chick that can't act and the nerdy, unsure, "everyman" who's her boyfriend (oh, he worries his gfriend will leave him for a rich dude who looks like a West Hollywood plastic surgeon). Shooting, explosions, gratuitous ass shots with plenty of duck lips. If you go in expecting anything more than the above, you will be disappointed. Purely entertainment and nothing more. |

I saw it and liked it. What I watched of it anyway. (My new GF wanted to smooch in a theater so we had to pick a movie.) The 3D was well done, some of the shots were downright great (overhead of aircraft looking down on the ground for example). I'd say it was better than 2 by a long shot, a hair behind the first one. That said, it's still a Transformers movie. Talking, form changing cars from outer space. It is NOT Shakespeare by any means. Plot holes and dumb scenes galore, but considering it's cartoon/comic origins it's right on the money. Worth seeing once. The chick was hot, but not as much as Megan was in the first one. Megan is a little more interesting and less of a "everything so perfect it's boring" type gal. Take a pee before you go in and start out a bit dehydrated. It's a longass movie.

Gotta see the new A-TACS camo in action, that was cool. And my son liked it, so that was also cool, and my main reason for going to see it.
As for me, I enjoyed it because I go to the movies to be entertained. It's a movie about robots from another planet that transform into vehicles and beat the shit out of each other in a global conquest for domination. Take it for what it is, along with all the plot holes, dumb jokes, and bad acting that go with it. I was entertained, so it was worth my money. That being said, I don't go to the movies very often, so I try to make it a fun time whenever I do go. |

I liked the first movie, even though a bit of it was pretty campy. The fight scenes were great, the story worked, and the whole thing came together as well as you could make a "alien robots turn into cars" movie. The second movie was horrible. The CGI was overdone and the action scenes were so busy it was like putting metal scraps in a bucket and shaking it in front of the camera. You couldn't tell what was going on, just a big pile of CGI "something" smashing against another pile of CGI "something". The plot to the second movie was also boring, seemed to drag on, and didn't really keep me interested. Nobody wants to see giant robots fighting in a barren desert or a forest. They want to see giant robots smashing into buildings, throwing cars, killing people, etc.. Another thing that ruined the second was that for some reason they felt the need to have generic stereotype robots thrown in to obviously to appeal to younger kids. The first one did this by having Jazz as the stereotypical "black" robot, which is ironic since he was the one Autobot who ended up dying. The second movie added so many stereotypes I half expected an asian female Autobot that drove around with it's turn signal on the entire time, it was that bad.
This movie was MUCH better than the previous two. The CGI action was done so that you can actually tell which robot is which, what's going on during the fights, etc... The campy side plot and one liners with the humans was toned down a bit. It didn't have the rampant stereotype robots throughout the movie like the second one did. It was much darker, much more violent, and they didn't shy away from flat out killing people throughout the movie. The CGI wasn't the tacky "SOMETHING FLYING AT THE SCREEN OMG!!" cgi that 3d movies tend to use. The whole thing was filmed in 3d and it added to the existing scene. I can think of only one part that had the tacky 3d "flying at you!" effect, and it seemed to be done more as a joke than anything else. The skydiving scene in 3d with the glider suits alone made this worth seeing in 3d, and I usually HATE 3d movies with a passion. The plot wasn't anything special and had some holes in it, but it's a Transformers movie, not shakespere as has been previously stated. I actually hope they don't make a 4th movie. This one tied everything up so well at the end they need to stop here, call it quits, box the three movies up as a trilogy, and call it a day. This was a great way to end the series and I hope they don't drag it on with movie after movie from this point. I generally hate the way hollywood is cramming CGI into everything these days and pushing 3d movies, so it was suprising that the cgi effects and 3d effects in this movie actually made me go "wow, that was pretty cool!". |

The wife and I saw the third movie yesterday. I thought it was pretty good entertainment. My wife thought it was just one big fight scene. I give it a 6.5 out of 10, First movie a 7.5 out of 10, second one 5 out of 10. Nimoy as the other Prime was a nice touch. Good entertainment. That's about it. |
