Watched this one tonight, thought it was pretty good.  When I read the description I figured it was going to be a blatantly liberal, torture is evil, type movie.  After watching it though, I have to say I didn't think it was bad at all.  Not really sure what point the movie was trying for and it makes you think.

Anyone else seen it and have thoughts on the message?

Well, went back and watched both endings.  Actually, the extended version is the one I watched first, the cliffhanger ending I watched later.  Then I went back and listened to the cliffhanger ending with the commentary.

The director did intend to make the movie a referendum on the evils of torture, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, etc.  The funny thing is that he said basically that the audience didn't agree with his views on torture being bad with the extended ending, so he went with the cliffhanger.  Typical liberal feelings, "If the audience doesn't agree with me, I'll just manipulate them so they do.".

Torture isn't an easy question to deal with and of course it's not a wonderful thing.  However, I know if it were my family I was trying to save I would do whatever I could to make sure that they were safe at the end of the day.  I don't understand how any father could feel differently.
