Help me find a good remote for my parent's odd collection of stereo and video equipment.  I scanned the current 7 pages and couldn't find anything like this here.

They have individual remotes for everything and it boggles my mind to see my Mom flipping through her notes to change from the Roku box to the Cable box to the DVD player

Is there something available that is computer programmable and doesn't cost two grand and offer to control the fireplace at the same time?

They have a nice Sony amplifier, 42" LCD TV, Toshiba DVD/VCR recorder, Roku Box, Cable box, a nice old manual PL turntable and a dual cassette deck that I can't remember the brand.

Thanks!

Harmony remotes.  Find the one that has the features you want and fits your budget.  I run the model 880 due to the fully programmable LCD screen and the ability to configure 16 different activities.

I bought a Harmony 550 (now replaced with a newer model but still in the 500-series).  It works fine.  Start low and work up in price oif you need additional features.  Don't buy junk.

Thanks for the recommendations.  I need to have 5 items controlled for sure, so it looks like the 650 model is my entry point according to the Logitech site.  I'll cruise eBay and see what's available.

+1 I also have the 880 for myself and got one for my parents. Easy for them to operate.

My Dad told me today that he's added another remote control device to his system.

As luck would have it there are now only 2 Harmony 880 remotes sale in the EE

Any chance they have an Ipod Touch?

If so, give this a try: Ipod Touch/Iphone Universal Remote.  It is a customizable universal remote that works with the touch screen.  I have it running my entire system, Samsung LCD, DirecTv, DVD/VCR, and an old school Technics receiver.

You can have multiple rooms/systems, custom buttons, etc.

Nah, I was trying to talk my Mom into a Kindle, but she's old school about having the book in her hand.
