| Should I watch it before seeing the US remake, Let Me In? I will see both eventually, but should I wait to watch the original? |

There is a lot missing from the book. I hope the remake is not a remake, but a different movie based off the same book. But I would recommend watching the original. I'm not sure if a movie based completely on the book would go over well......though I loved both the book and the first movie. |

You know I can say its a helluva lot better than Twilight but lets face it anything is better than Twilight.
I really love the original, its dark and its gloomy, you can really feel sad for Oskar as he tries to live out a miserable existence. Also Im glad they didnt take the route of the book. So yes see the original first and if your still interested see the Americanized version. Donners Movie Reviews - Let the Right One In

Looks interesting! At this point I'm feeling the remake is going to suck......The movie and the book where great, with a creepy/cute story. The book had some really hard to deal with themes....and I had to skip over a part or two. One of the things I like about both the first movie and the books...is how Oskar and Eli are portrayed. Oskar is just a lonely geek kid with all the issues that goes with that at age 12. And Eli is both lonely 12yr old and 200 yr old monster....and the actress in the first movie pulled that off prefectly. |
Ok, I watched Let the Right One In today, and wow it was good! Now I've got to read the novel. ![]() While I'd love to see how the US take on the story will be similar and different, the pictures out so far are pretty similar to the original film. Well, except for the hoodie anyway. To quote a post on iMDB: "Aren't you cold?" "No." "Why not?" "Don't you see all these warm clothes and the hoodie I'm wearing? Geez." ![]() ETA: Oh, and thank goodness they picked Chloe Moretz out of those others they leaked audition tapes of. Out of those three, I think Chloe had the sincerest depiction of the character. http://io9.com/5315525/vote-for-your-baby-vampire-in-the-let-the-right-one-in-remake |

Just about to bump it myself! ![]() Doesn't look too bad! So far, I'm not that worried.

Thats really awesome and it looks like they are adding a lot from the book into this movie. Hakan looks scarier in this one. I wish they would have at least given Chloe Moretz a dark wig or even dyed her hair for the roll but it looks really good regardless. I hope they keep that really sad Eli Theme for this movie or possibly remake it. |

There's a new clip here: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=69500

It surprises me to say this, but as someone who really enjoyed the book and original movie.... I'm really looking forward to this! It does look more true to the book (even though they changed the names of the characters and the location) than the original movie. Chloe looks like she's done an awesome job with the part of Eli/Abby.
Elias Koteas looks like he's doing his usual bang-up job in this. I've always thought he should get more roles. Shame he's so under-rated. I'll be seeing this opening day. |

Alrighty, I am south here in the theater with the credits rolling. Mixed feelings right now. On one hand, out could have been disrespectful to the original film, and I feel that it was very respectful to the original film and novel. However,i also feel that the film is no more than a very well made american version of the same film.that's not to say it sucks, butit really felt like I watched the original with a very good dub and with certain scenes changed.i must say the cgi absolutely stunk, but so did the cgi in the original. That's the only really bad part I can think of, but something can be said as to how the director worked in the subplots. Not bad overall, but don't be surprised that the obvious mismarketing and general stupidity of the american moviegoing public see it bomb. |

Saw it yesterday and heres my thoughts. I can only make a pros/cons list comparing it to the original so here it goes Pros: Loved the Tarantino plot mix up with events happening out of order. Cinematography was excellent. The in your face 80s vibe (soundtrack was superb) You got to see more from this movies Hakans point of view in this film hes played by the wonderful Richard Jenkins. The bullies are meaner than a dog shitting tacks than in the Original Owens mother is sort of like Nanny from the Muppet Babies you occasionally see her face but its mostly from the neck down or shes out of focus which sort of adds to Owens loneliness Wonderful Child actors (I could see Moretz trying to get Leandersson mannerisms down) Smit Mcphee has the pitiful little kid to a t. The car scene is amazing. No Ninja Cat Attack scene. Pool scene was so awesome. No goofy messed up translations. Cons: CGI reminded me of the blue pixie scene from Harry Potter, The Aliens in that Charlie Sheen movie The Arrival or even the Ninja scene from Blade 2. The original one had flawless cgi and use of practical movie applications such as animatronics. You never really saw Eli do many attacks it was just hidden but still visible in the shadows and this one puts it all up in your face. Didn't really care about the "villain", I had no reason to hate the guy. The idea of Abby using Owen for her blood getter Really high 8/10 Let Me in 10/10 Let the Right one in |

I just got back from seeing this movie, I had no idea there was an original, and was very pleased to see that it was based on a novel. I'm not sure why but this story really resonated with me, one of the best "dark" movies I've seen in a long time. Very excited to see the original and read the book. On the CGI: The animations just looked awkward, I would expect a thousand year old vampire's movements to be fluid/graceful. |

But that was mostly in the weird demon cat scene. One thing that was a bit too creepy that I'm not missing in the new one.
