I have a '03 Dodge Dakota with a magnum V-6 and suspect I have a Water pump leak. I  can't see it from the top,but see "wetness" on the plastic below and usually find a decent puddle in the am.
Anyone ever put a new one in? Looks like a real knuckle buster.

never put one on a dakota but water pumps are typically pretty easy to do. Most water pumps have a weep hole on the bottom where the shaft goes into the pump body. they will start to weep when the bearing is starting to go, so that you know its getting time. I bet if you lay under the truck and find the weep hole that is where the water is coming from. Hope this helps

magums are pretty easy to work on. The whole front end can be removed in under 20 min.

There are only two things that might get you on pulling the water pump. The bypass hose is under the bracket that holds the a/c and alternator on. You really will have a hard time getting to it with that bracket on. fortunatly it is pretty easy to get that bracket off. The alt and a/c are bolted only to that bracket. You can pull it and lift it off with everything still connected if you find you can't get to the hose clamp. Honestly if I were in there anyway, I would replace the bypass hose at the same time.

This is a 5.9, but the front end is the same across all magnums except in the vans.
