First thanks for all of the replies from my first question about the 94 Z28.
Now to my question,,, what problems would I run into if I were to secure a six cylinder camaro and order a crate engine (V8), fot it and swap it for the v6? |
| Oh do what you want. IMO, there are too many V8 camaros for you to have to do that with. Unless you carb'd it, youd have to into the computer stuff, tranny lock up and all that mess. Now if you were pro streeting one with carb motor and going to gut it, than that is different. But if you just simply want a V8 camaro, go get one that is factory done. |
| Due to the type of ECM/PCM you would also have to find a harness and computer for the V8. You cannot re-flash that ECM for the V8. More of a pain than what it's worth unless you are thinking a LSx swap. Then Delphi or MegaSquirt have some very good options for the LSx swaps with their stand alone management.... |

painless performance also offers a stand alone engine managment system. Runs around 1200 bucks. Fully programable. But you will be out closer to 1800 after buying the wide band o2 and other sensors it needs. Well maybe not since they mostly use chevy sensors. But I think that would screw up the dash since it reads off those sensors as well.
But I agree, way more money then it would be worth when you are done. |

It would HAVE to be EFI because in order to fit a carberator AND breather on one of these you must cut a hole in the cowl in front of the windscreen, and forget a disturbitor I guess we can thank the F'body for foisting the opticrap on the world. Remember over half the motor is underneath the dashboard and must come out through the BOTTOM
Do yourself a favor and Forget the whitetrash mobiles and find a nice A or G body from the late 70's early 80's IMOP they make a much better and more user friendly hot rod |
