Does anyone out there have any experience with Chatterbox type communication devices for motorcyclists? I'm looking at getting the gmrs x1 bluetooth and was wondering what, if any, experience anyone had with them. How is the sound quality? How good is the VOX feature? was it hard to mount? how does it work with gloved hands? Some reviews on previous units indicated that the mounting brackets were flimsy and prone to breakage, is that true? Thanks --Mouse |
| My riding buddy and I bought a set years ago, and the plastic clamp mounts are prone to breaking if you whack them a few times by accident. The VOX sucks. Any speed above 45 mph, and the wind would set off the mic, meaning all you hear was your buddy's wind noise. Turn the sensitivity up, and you missed the first part of every sentence before they went off. PTT was better, but you had to rig and wire up the PTT switch on our handlebar, or reach up and PTT the unit on the helmet (I hated that). Even worse, the faster you rode, the harder is was to hear. We used them a handful of times, and went back to hand signals and talking at traffic lights. YMMV. |
