So I wanted to mod my explorer a little bit. Nothing too crazy, but I wanted a mesh grille. So I ordered a Street Scenes mesh grille for about $180. Took it to a mechanic because I was nervous about cutting it myself (bad previous experience), and he works on it, but it won't fit exactly right so he had to fabricate some fittings for it. Fast forward two months. I am still grille-less and now he says that he probably can't do it. Don't get me wrong, I don't really blame him because he had a lot of fabrication to do, but I really wanted that grille.

He's giving me a brand new stock grille and the Street Scenes insert back. Should I take it somewhere else and see if they can do it? It's an 02 Explorer BTW

What does the grill manufacturer say about the install?

Just that cutting is required. The included instructions suck balls.

I would call the manufacturer, explain the problem and see if they have any suggestions.  Sometimes they are aware of deficiencies in their documentation and the "work arounds" to get the product installed.

Shipping the car might be a bit expensive

Im going to see the guy tomorrow, and he'll show me why he's having trouble. Then Ill probably contact Street Scenes Or take it to a shop that specializes in suto cosmetics and see if they can do it
