ABS light on sister's car went off.  Code says the modulator is f'd up.

Dealer wants $800.  I can find the part on ebay for $50 and it looks like it might be a straight swap.  I don't have a service manual in front of me but wondering how hard a repair this might be.

Once you get the part in, youll have to get a scanner to clear the code and NO, unplugging the battery will not truely clear the code.

Also make , model and year would help get ya a quicker answer,

There aren't very many codes that say "(insert part name here) is fucked up, replace."

Careful with ebay, car parts there suffer exactly the same problems as optics and other AR parts; you'll likely get a knock-off that may not work and isn't close to the quality of the real thing.

I'd skip ebay and the dealer, and call up some local parts places or check internet owners clubs for your car make/model.

A modulator isn't that hard to install. On a lot of newer cars, they even self bleed them selves. However, you'll need a pretty spendy scan tool to do it with.

What kind of car? What was the code number? Who told you it was a modulator?
