... Although the publisher of this chart cautions not to use the data as a projection, it's done so just to cover their asses.

... But looking at the linear trend-line, my gasoline/diesel budget allocation will almost triple over a (3) year timeframe starting one year ago.

... If something is not done to level off these increases, at this rate, it's quite possible I could be paying in the neighborhood of $3.75/gal in one short year.

We have had a couple of those E85 stations get put in around here lately, the rub on that is the vehicle has to be "flex fuel" compatible or you can't use it... I've heard a few stories of people putting it into non flex cars and the run like s#!t or not at all...

That was an average from the news.
I just got back from the gas station. $1.39 a liter. 1 US gallon is 3.79 liters. 1.39 x 3.79 = $5.27 a gallon.

Here in Long Island, NY, I just filled up 1/2 a tank with diesel for $2.899/gal.  THat was $.40/gal cheaper than regular

On a side note, It always amuses me why people complain about gas prices.  Yes, I know that gas is a "neccesity", and there are few competitors, but lets look at the following comparisons:

1 gallon of soda:  $4.87/gallon
1 Gallon bottled H2O: $11.62/gallon ( If H2O is bought in 12oz bottles)
1 gallon of mouthwash: $31.96/gallon

Yet, people don't blink an eye at purchasing the above?

That is your/thier choice to puchase an innefficiant vehicle.  There must be atleast 30 vehicles that get 35mpg or higher.

w00t. The price dropped from $1.38 to $1.28 here last night...
We have approx 500 independant truckers set up 2 or 3 blockaides on the highway for 3 days to protest the gas prices.. They were letting cars, etc through but all truckers were stopped and added to the line.
They took them down when it was brought to their attention some of the trucks they stopped were hauling relief supplies to New Orleans.
