Just bought a 2016 Z71 today. I was going to get a Tacoma but they have been jerking me around and I've been waiting weeks. So I figured I'd go test drive a Colorado. Drives about the same. More power though and better ergos so I bought it.
What kind of cool stuff is out there for them like bumpers, step rails, etc? I'm going to tint the front windows and order weather tech floor mats but that's all I got so far. |

The diesel was cool and kind of tempting but I think the gas motor had much better characteristics for daily driving. For towing and gas mileage though the diesel is a beast. |

Here's mine ............... Came with the steps, bed-liner, bed-cover. Bought it used with about 4.5K miles on it and the previous owner swapped the factory wheels/tires out with what's on it now - Moto-Metal wheels/Nitto A/T Grappler G2 tires. I added the bull-bar and exhaust-pipe cover - also WeatherTech floor liners front and back. http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk64/drfcolt/Chevrolet%20Colorado%20Z71/100_2640_zpskjo6dnbi.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk64/drfcolt/Chevrolet%20Colorado%20Z71/100_2639_zpsbdmnvsoz.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk64/drfcolt/Chevrolet%20Colorado%20Z71/100_2638_zpsfr4usszo.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk64/drfcolt/Chevrolet%20Colorado%20Z71/100_2637_zpssgxzgy5h.jpg That's purdy. I like black the best but have always had trouble keeping my black cars looking nice so I went safe and got silver. |
| Had a 2005 colorado extreme I bought for $23k. Was a great truck. Never gave me issues with an inline 5 cylinder engine. Sold it after 10 years as it developed a minor water leak in the cab I didn't feel like fixing as I had another truck by then. Still got $6k for it. |

I've got a 2009 Sierra 1500 5.3L, and while I like the truck a lot, I'm getting really tired of averaging 16 mpg... And that's with a mostly HWY commute. I know some of it has to do with extra weight I've added (tools in the bed, about 250 lbs. of plate steel bumpers, heavy wheels and LT tires. I think I'll be a little more careful (especially with the wheels/tires) on my next truck. It might very well be a Colorado. |

Neat truck, you should share your life with it, with us. FabFours, Addictive Desert Designs and a couple others make 2015+ Colorado bumpers right now. N-Fab already has steps and some other accessories out for mounting lights and whatnot. BDS, Zone, and Rough Country make lift/level kits. |

I like the rough country 1" leveling kit. I like that it's very mild and keeps some of the factory rake. They have the 2" which levels it completely as well. I believe with the 1" you can fit bigger tires too if you want. Any sort of lift will help wth tires, backspacing on wheels notwithstanding. What's factory tire size? |

It's amazing how much more aggressive they look in person compared to pics. Rough country says that with the 1" you can comfortable fit 265/70/17s so I may do just that. There's a big custom shop here that works only on trucks and jeeps so I may need to stop by and see what options I have. |

| How do the current Colorados compare to the 2005 model? Had this for a work truck and while I had no problems with it, it was under powered and the turning radius was terrible. Can't speak to longevity. Having had a Tacoma, Ranger, Silverado, F150 and an old Mazda B2000, the Colorado was my least favorite truck. |

The newer ones have 305 HP. Turning radius isn't too bad. It's a peppy little truck. Tow capacity is better as well. The 2005 had 1500 lbs or 4000 lbs on the 4 and 5 cyl. The new ones have 7000 lbs. |

Pretty much a complete redesign from the 1st gen Colorado, very little (if anything) is shared between the two. GM's decision to run that I-5 was a poor one. No idea why they didn't stick one of the many V6's they had laying around, or just optioned them as I-4 or 5.3L. |

Love that topper. Except yesterday, when I had four 7' fishing rods resting on the tailgate with the first panel open, and at 70mph I heard a bang that was loud enough to make me pull over to the side of the interstate. The damn panel had somehow been pulled up and back by the airflow, and had slammed into the rods... I've never had that happen before, but next time I'll open two panels. The extra weight should hold them down. |

If I do this Rough Country 1" leveling kit, what are good 265/70/17 tires for it? Mostly on-road use with some minimal off-road and snow.
Also, I like the look of the stock wheels so I'd probably stick with those but should I be going wider since the new tires would be a bit wider? |

Toyo Open Country AT2, Michelin LTX AT2, General Grabber AT2, Cooper Discoverer AT/3, etc. |

LT tires have more plies in the carcass and tread; they bear more weight, have thicker construction, and can be aired much higher, with the tradeoff being more weight and cost. I'm personally a fan of LT tires on all trucks, the tires wander less and are a lot tougher IME. I bet the truck has Passenger-rated tires on it right now. |

I don't want to increase the weight too much because of reciprocating mass and all that. May try to find a tough light wheel or something. |

A lot of the load range C tires carry a bit less weight than the P metrics that come stock on SUVs and midsize pickups now, even after correcting the capacity for truck use. They will be tougher, though. It's going to come at the expense of gas mileage and ride, so for this size truck it's a matter of how much you want that extra durability for whatever amount of non-pavement driving you do. |
| I love everything about my 16 v6 crew cab, except the automatic transmission. I have only driven manuals before this truck, and I just can't get used to the premature shifting. The transmission shifts into 3rd gear before I'm even through an intersection or turn. Makes the truck lug and feel very weak. Yes, I should have gotten the manual. |

Have you taken it to the dealer with your concerns? I know mine I know mine has a slight delay when down shifting. I need to have that looked at when I get some free time. |

It does seem to have a tendency to want to be in a higher gear.
There are rumors that the 17 will get the 8 speed transmission but maybe not until halfway through the year. I didn't want to wait. I'm planning on going to my local shop this week to see what they recommend for the 1" level and what tires are best. |
|
That's exactly what I have. Only difference is I have the spray in bed liner. |
| The 2017 will have an updated engine and an 8-speed. I'm pissed because I had heard rumors about the 8-speed but that it may not come u til mid year 2017. I asked the dealer about it and they were said that they aren't making a single change. I bet that tranny will make the truck a lot peppier. |
