Not sure if it's coming from the compressor, but there is a, best that I can describe, metallic noise (bearing?)  that comes and goes. It starts out quiet, builds up then fades away, then comes back again a few minutes later. Usually when the car is at idle, ac on. The ac clutch does engage, ac blows cold.

If its not the compressor, then will a possible bad or going bad idler/tensioner pully on the ac belt cause the compressor clutch , or compressor, to eventually fail due to possible increased parasitic drag on the ac pully?

It could be the compressor, I'd reach down there and give the clutch a spin and see if that makes any noise.

I've never seen a bad tensioner/idler pulley cause a compressor to fail, but I haven't seen everything yet.

Will try to take a closer look and listen at the clutch as a starting point. If it's anything just hoping its one of the idler/tensioner pullys as they would seem easier to change out. Thanks.

Pull the belt off and spin the pulleys . You will hear it .
