I don't recall hearing "rod knock" in person, but my impression is that when it occurs, it's pretty loud.
This "knock", you don't hear it until you get underneath. It also doesn't seem to have that hissing noise that an exhaust leak has. Going to try two things to see if I can eliminate one or the other. 1st will be letting it idle and having someone kind of plug the tail pipe. 2nd will be a cylinder balance test. The other thing will be to look at the flywheel and bolts, but I doubt that anything with that is the cause. |
