TOPTUL!!!

Been waiting for a long time to get my hands on some Toptul products. Its been literally months of effort to track down distributors and part numbers but FINALLY I got my hands on some Toptul tools. As far as I can tell there are only two distributors in the U.S. - Mike Wren in Washington St. and Dennis Schmidt in Arizona. For those that may not know, Toptul is a Taiwanese tool company that produce extremely high quality tools that sell for Craftsman prices. For example, I got a 3/8 dr. long impact socket set with a nifty metal box for $49 shipped. The short impacts on a metal rail where $26 shipped. These things are cheaper than what Sears sells the Chinese made Craftsman shit for and are multiple orders of magnitude better quality fit and finish. Anyway, some photos:

Good choice on the 0 degree offset double box wrenches.  I have a MAC set & they've gotten me places that would've been a challenge without them.  Looks like Toptul has a stouter beam cross-section than mine...my only real complaint with the MAC is they will flex under load....

Yeah, have those MAC ones too. Cant believe how flimsy the 12-14 is. The 17-19 is ok, but the smaller wrenches flex like they are going to snap. My disappointment in the MAC wrenches led me to get the Toptul ones.

The sockets look like Gray Pneumatic socket also from Taiwan. They are the best value in sockets around, and I love Snap On tools.  I need to check out the rest of their line.

Yeah, they may very well come from the same factory. Ive never used the Grey stuff, but had my eye on them for quite a while. The Toptul sockets are excellent - used the long impacts yesterday and was very pleased.

I have that exact double box wrench set, and they work great...only problem is, their sizing is ridiculous.  Sizing goes 12x14 to 14x17, with no 13 or 15mm...two 14mm ends, but not a single 13 or 15.  Other than that, they are perfect...

Little bit of a challenge as Toptul has a tiny footprint in the U.S. I've dealt with the only two distributors I know of in the U.S - Mike Wren and Dennis Schmidt. Mike supplies Stillen racing with lots of tools and is building up a stock in his warehouse. Dennis has more sockets and stuff on hand.

My suggestion is to go to the Toptul website:
http://www.toptul.com/

Find the part #'s you are interested in and the go to Mike Wren's website:
http://wrenhandtools.com/

Mike is a genuinely nice guy and he will spend 20 minutes on the phone talking tools with you. The website is going through some growing pains, so dont be afraid to email call him:

Mike Wren
[email protected]
(509) 993-4678

If you talk to Mike, tell him that you were referred by Eric from Fairfax, VA and ask him if he will extend the 20% garage journal discount to you.

Dennis has an eBay store:

Hear you Bro! Im actually trying to dig up some Snap On individual double box end long wrenches to get a 13/15 for this set. Otherwise, if you work on Honda/Toyota these things are perfect.

BTW,

Used the 22mm long wrench on some castle nuts this weekend. Worked perfect. As did the impact sockets - loving them so far.
