A 2" lift, Disconnects, and 31x1050's will serve you well, and you can put spacers on that sucker cheap and easy.

Good choice, Skyjacker is garbage.

'98 XJ, keys in hand now!  Always wanted one of these.

Here's a couple of pics from this weekend - we went with a couple friends to check out part of the Ozark Overland Trail on Saturday, then I spent Sunday installing my new bumper.

One of a half-dozen water crossings along the Illinois Bayou...

A nice secluded spot - I wish we'd brought a cooler of beer & a grill.

My buddies '13 6spd Rubi...

More gratuitous shots of my Jeep...

Finally got my bumper put on... Now it's time to go winch shopping...

Nice...
I miss our XJ - I'm still thinking of getting another one as a designated fun vehicle.

I'll play,

2006 65th anniversary edition
4.0/ 6speed
D30/D44 w/ 3.73's
3" zone springs and shocks
JKS track bars front and rear
JKS Discos
TeraFlex SYE w/ tattons driveshaft
Savvy Adj. rear upper control arms
DC-2 15x8 w/ 32×11.50 BFG AT's
Other junk I cant think of right now

I bought her in 09 with 28k, bone stock except for a budget lift. Soon the I'll be installing 5.9 ZJ steering with a rough country stabilizer and either some extended brake lines or moving the existing lines to get a little more slack. Since I put in 3/4" spacers in the front the brake lines are pulling tight when one side of the axle is at full droop.

This is the most recent pic i have, was taken in the backyard when i had to jump start my lawn mower.

I'm guessing those are Super Swamper TSL's, either 32's or 34's. I looked at that, before settling on BFG MT/KM2's in 33x1050, mainly because you can find them a lot more places.

33-1250 bias TSLs.  Actually measure closer to 35", and are taller than everyone's 35s in our club.

They are not much for road going, but, there isn't a better tire made once you leave improved roads.

Are those tires the Interco SSR by any chance? If so, how do you like them? How are they holding up?

ETA: Nevermind. I just finally got down to you last post and saw that they're TSLs.

Picked this up last week. 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited. 4.7 V8. It's snowed like crazy here lately and I've finally gotten a chance to play around with it. I'm in love with it,  and have had zero issues going anywhere with it.  I have a few things on order for it including a full flowmaster exhaust and intake. im also planning on a bull bar and some other misc items

It's a Surco Safari rack - I ordered it from ExtremeTerrain.com during their black friday sale, it was about 100-150 bucks off the regular price, IIRC.

The Pros:
No drilling, or modifications to the hardtop, or the Jeep itself.

Plenty of additional cargo space (short people better pack a step stool though.)

Made in USA

Seems durable - I've successfully "branch tested" it on numerous jaunts through the Ozark & Ouachita National Forests. If there's a low hanging limb - I always seem to find it. The basket remains undamaged, and securely mounted.

The Cons:
On our 2 Door anyway, mounting/aligning it was a little bit of a PITA. I took the front brackets & slightly "dearched" them with a hammer & block of wood to get them to line up better, and swapped a couple of small bolts on the front brackets for a couple of longer ones I had laying around.

It sits up several inches higher than it needs to, unless the goal was to have the flat of the hardtop used for flat storage under the basket. That actually works, btw - I've hauled plywood (placing a mover's blanket on the paint job), then tying the wood to the light bar brackets in the front & to the basket in the back. See the branch testing note above. Surco really could've redesigned the mounts to bring the basket down a good 3-4 inches.

Wind Noise... Wrangler's are not aerodynamic to begin with, and placing metal bars, trays or cages on top of them results in all manner of wind noise, buffeting, etc. I was already dealing with the noise for the giant light bar mounted right in the path of air coming over the top of the windscreen, so this isn't a biggie for me. You just get used to turning the volume on the stereo up louder.

In summary, the basket design bolts together solidly, does no permanent damage or modification to the Jeep, and gives you much needed cargo space. Part of the installation woes could have been the result of my natural lack of mechanical ability rearing it's ugly head (it always seems to trigger fits of Tourette's syndrome as well .)

Thanks for the info, I need a rack but i am paranoid about messing with my hard top, I added the hard top after i bought my JK. Sad thing is I have two other racks now that i used on other vehicles, with Yakima bars, but they obviously will not work.

I have a couple air dams that helps with the wind noise, or, it did when I used a rack on my Jetta. I need something for hauling a Kayak. I was going to go ghetto and use pool noodles.

You can install those frame racks that bold to the Jeep's body and frame.

Take a look at Kargo Master, Body Armor, etch.

If you can spend $$$ there are other models that have the basket integrated.

I got the Kargo Master and made a couple mods to make easy to open and close the softtop without having to tilt the rack.

My seventh Jeep since 1980, but my first Rubicon.

Did the flattie thing "53 3-A" and wish I had her back, owned 1 ton YJ and a 1 ton CJ, plus this is my 4th TJ since 97.

Decided after my divorce, that I must have another and the turn key advantages of the Rubicon shined. Will have a more aggressive set of meats and wheels for purpose driven days, along with winch, LED lighting and armor.

But she will remain largely docile for commuting if needed. Still nice to know beast mode is only a toggle switch away, at any moment needed.

Don't know why…can't stand the KL. It is literally the only vehicle on the planet that I judge by the cover (maybe because I've grown up in XJs and SJs). I didn't think the Grand Cherokee's look much better back in the XJ days…now I know very few people who consider the Cherokee over the Grand Cherokee.

BDS >> Teraflex

BDS shocks and Springs are about the best in the business for TJ's. Only OME really gives them a run for their money.

I wouldn't run either BDS or Teraflex on a TJ.

For a 2" lift though, go OME and don't look back.

Yeah, OME is on my radar as well, but Its damn expensive compared to others and the yellow is god awful.

I dot Dirk at DPG to quote me on a 2.5'' kit he sells. 1300 for everything.
