2007 Ford F-150 SCREW 4x4 5.4 140,000 miles

Just had the alternator replaced (shop with good rep, no chance to do it myself). Now the battery light will come on intermittently.  This includes while doing 70 on the highway. Starts fine and runs fine.

Any ideas?

Wont be the first rebuilt alternator that was no good. Bring it back

Take it back to the shop and have them look at it. Could be a bad alternator.

Like everyone else said, probably a bad alternator.  I don't like taking chances with remanufactured alternators, so I'll spring for the new ones.  I had one go all the way bad on a Crown Vic about a week after replacement, so it's probably more common than people think. Fortunately it's a quick fix on your truck, changing out the alternator on a Ford 5.4 3v is about as easy as changing the oil, but before everything gets  taken out, make sure the connection into the back of the alternator is good, it's one of those snap-lock jobs that sometimes doesn't go in all the way, and vibration from the engine and driving knocks it in and out of contact.

The problem is most rebuilders don't rebuild,They just replace the bad part that caused the alternator to go bad in the first place. A alternator from Motorcraft authorize rebuilder is a fully manufactured unit. I have toured one of their facilities and can attest to this as fact
