Does anyone here own a 2013 Escape? If so, what are your thoughts? I seem to like the exterior styling although it resembles a Vue from the rear - but then again that metal plate on the bottom is also used on the BMW X3? X5? as well.

I know it is just a revamped Ford Kuga, all based on the C1 Focus platform which by itself is a great handling chassis.

I've worked on a few, the new Escape is a piece of crap. Find a 2012 if you want an Escape, they were pretty trouble free and easy to work on.

I rented a 2012 Escape for a week while in Maine.  I really liked it.

I really like the new Escape. The new turbo engines have a ton of low end power and getting in the 30's for mpg on the highway is easy.

Two different vehicles, I wouldn't mind a 2012 Escape, 2013 no way.

My dad has a 2012 escape. It has a lot of the bells and whistles that a more expensive SUV has and itt gets good gas mileage. A con is it was FWD and the turning radius was shitty

What's breaking on the 2013s? I never cared too much for the 2012 styling though.

Radiators leak, cooling fans go out, replace the radiator or fans is a 4-5 hour job everything comes out the bottom and you need to strip all the front end off except the fenders them selves. Radios quits working at times, they already have had 4 recalls.

It looks like the cooling recall is only for 1.6L EcoBoost engines, not the 2.0L in the Titanium. The other 3 recalls were from July, when the first Escapes hit the streets. I am still hesitant about a first model year purchase though. I heard about roof leaks too.

Good luck finding a 2012. I was looking at them before I bought my JKU; all the nice ones were gone off the lots around here by August. Salesmen told me no one wanted a '13. Ford really cut the nuts off the Explorer and the Escape.

Probably wise to never buy the first model year until they work the bugs out.

Are the new redesigned Explorers having as many problems as the new Escapes?

Last year the Explorer/Edge had a bad batch of fan modules. Nice part is easy to change like 20-30 minutes. Only other problems are the Microsoft based radios need to be re-programed.

I am considering an Edge, maybe Explorer, but the Escape's a bigger piece of junk than a Focus.

Just got one.

2.0L 4cyl EcoBoost - 231HP/270TQ.

Averaging 27MPG over all (50% city/50% highway).

SE model/4WD/Tuxedo black-gray cloth/panoramic sun-roof/18-inch wheels/roof-rails/SYNC/SIRIUS/..........

I've had 2 Escapes before this (2006/2008) with good results and this one compares very nicely.

So far no problems - very pleased.

With it's garage buddy ..........
