Anyone use this product? I need to coat and protect the under carriage of my 86 CUCV from the salt we use up north here.
thanks |

I've used POR15 http://www.eastwood.com/rust-solutions/por-15.html?srccode=ga110080&gclid=CPDn_qSfybACFQrf4AodRXVKWQ and have no XP with Rust Encapsulator. http://www.eastwood.com/por-15-vs-rust-encapsulator-products-comparision-part-1 I wont make believe there is zero bias in the comparison. I have no opinion of the bias. I'm not trying to change your mind, just offer another datapoint for you to compare, and I'm sorry I can't yea/nay. |

I looked at the POR stuff and got some mixed opinions from a multitude of users. Some said it was great , while others were not so kind in its ability to be forgiving.
I dont plan on a frame off restoration , just want to seal the expossed metal before the winters take their toll. This truck came from a place with no salt, so there is very little rust to deal with now, but after three years of me having it and not having protection, i can see where it will be starting soon. |

Maybe look at sandblasting any areas that are just starting and undercoating it after you use the encapsulater as a primer/sealer? Ought make the vehicle a little quieter regarding road noise in some cases, too. I know there are folks with more useful experience than I have will be along soon. I wish you good fortune. |
| My son just painted the undercarriage of his '86 M1009 with POR15 and topcoated it with Rustoleum. It remains to be seen how well it will hold up. I use Fluid Film and have used it for years. I have to apply it every year but putting it in a sprayer and hosing down the undercarriage is pretty easy and has worked well for stopping rust. |
