Hi,  I have a 97 GMC Sierra with electric windows.  THe driver side window goes down about 6 inches and then ceases to go down, but the auto down motor/ switch continues running.  Any idea what it will take to fix this?  The window does go back up, but sometimes I have to grab the glass and pull up for it to return to closed.

Something is wrong with the window regulator, you'll have to take off the door panel and see what is broken. It probably needs a new regulator, sometimes that includes the motor.

Thanks for the info.  Are these regulator/motors pop riveted into support members in the door or are they just screwed in?

My 1990 chevy truck the power window motor was riveted in.
