I took the 02 FZ1 out and she did feel right. She had 4 month old gas in her.

I hunted around and I have spark on all cylinders.

I felt and my #2 is not hitting. I opened the carb drain let some fuel out and I heard it pick up and started firing on all cylinders. Then a minute later #2 died again.

So I tried to flush the carb by opening the drain a few times. I then ran her 50-60miles on the highway miles from 45mph to 120mph. Got home and number 2 is still flooding.

So I come here to the Hive in need of the wealth of knowledge.

Stuck needle valve?  Draining gas would alleviate the problem a bit, but if the needle valve is stuck open in the carburetor, you've still got gas dumping (and draining) into the cylinders.  Draining the float bowls will only help the problem on a temporary basis.

My GPz1100 did this.  That's why I got rid of it.  Tired of dealing with stuck needle valves - it made me miss a vacation to Colorado, so I was pissed enough to just sell the thing.  Loved that damned bike, but the fueling system (read : carburetors) just pissed me off one too many times.

Best thing to do is completely remove the carburetors to start with, especially if it was stored for a long period with old gas.  Drain them out, then give them a through cleaning, taking out and scrubbing up every bit of the carbs that you can remove.

The float in the bowl is stuck.  Pull the bowl off, take the float out and then take the float needle out and clean it.  Hold the float under water and make sure you do not see bubbles, if you do you have a hole in the float.  I honestly think the float needle is just stuck.

WEEEEEE tiny pilot jet would clog in my Honda carbs, had to take carb rack off, removed bowls, and use compressed air to blow out the pilot and main jet passages.
