hey guys, while cleaning my 2003 silverado today i noticed the rocker panels are starting to show some wear. they have numerous rock chips from the previous owner and from me. i installed some chrome rocker panels a while back to help cover the more visible ones up but i guess i didnt realize how much actual chipping was going on under the truck. so here are my options: #1 leave them alone #2 paint them #3 remove the chrome panels and get them sprayed. i like the look of the chrome panels but they are really a PITA to deal with in the winter. they are always rusting and needing attention. the truck is black with chrome door handles, nerf bars, bed caps, and bug deflector. the wheels are black KMC rockstars. i see some truck rolling around that are all black and i really like them. i sometimes wish i would have gone that route instead of mixing in chrome. then again i think my truck looks good the way it is now... ill post a pic of the truck in the next few days, its dark outside right now. so what do you think? EDT: Pics ok i finally got a chance to take some pictures. sorry for the truck being dirty as the roads are melting away and you cant drive 10 feet without getting crap all over your truck. i also dont have access to a hose spout anywhere near where i park..  the 1st pic shows you how my chrome rockers are installed and how far down they go. it also shows you how much crap gets flung up on my truck from my tires. the 2nd pic shows where most of the chips are occurring. the underside of the rocker is getting hammered with chips.. if i had them "rhino lined" without removing the chrome rockers it wouldnt really get a lot done. i think it would be a waste of 400$> if i was going to spend that kind of $$$ i might as well remove the chrome rockers and have it sprayed from the body trim down..   |
